Disciples of Christ Chalice

Bethany Christian Church

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was formed in 1832 in Lexington, Kentucky, when two similar religious groups were joined together. Its two principle leaders were Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone. Today, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has a membership of more than 700,000 in over 3700 congregations in the United States and Canada. Bethany Christian Church was organized in 1878 and moved to its present location in 1959. It is one of 12 Disciples churches in the greater Richmond area.

As members of Bethany Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and that Christ is the head of the Church. We are called by God to proclaim Jesus Christ Lord and Savior of the world and to invite all people to experience the faithful love of God and salvation through Jesus Christ.
